What is a Scripture Walk?
A Scripture Walk is a simple, repeatable way to move through a Bible passage slowly—reading, observing, praying, and applying what you’ve seen. At Elior’s Scripture Walk, we use this approach alongside Bible-based video teachings to help you walk through Scripture and grow in faith, one passage at a time.
Why this rhythm helps you grow
- It keeps you grounded in the text. You’re not chasing random verses—you’re learning to follow the flow of a passage.
- It trains your attention. You start noticing repeated words, key connections, and what the author is emphasizing.
- It turns reading into prayer. Scripture becomes conversation with God, not just information.
- It’s sustainable. You can do it in 10 minutes or expand it when you have more time.
A simple 5-step Scripture Walk
Use this framework with any passage—especially a short section like a paragraph in the Gospels or a few verses in the Psalms.
1) Read
Read the passage once for the big picture, then again more slowly. If you can, read it out loud. Ask: What is happening? Who is speaking? What is the main point?
2) Observe
Notice details without rushing to conclusions. Look for repeated words, contrasts, commands, promises, and cause-and-effect. If something stands out, underline it or write it down.
3) Understand
Ask: What did this mean to the original audience? Consider the surrounding verses and the book’s overall message. When needed, check a cross-reference or a trusted study note—then come back to the passage itself.
4) Pray
Turn what you read into prayer. Thank God for what is true, confess what needs to change, and ask for help to obey. If the passage includes a promise, ask God to deepen your trust in it.
5) Apply
Choose one clear next step. Keep it specific and doable today. For example: forgive someone, speak truth with kindness, set aside time to pray, or memorize a verse that addresses a current struggle.
What to do when you don’t have much time
If your day is full, don’t abandon the walk—shrink it. Here’s a “5-minute” version:
- Read the passage once.
- Write one observation.
- Pray one sentence.
- Choose one small application.
